Rainbow Village Taichung bursts with surreal artwork painted onto the sides of its buildings. Once a part of a network of inexpensive homes given to veterans of World War II and the Chinese Civil War, the village now contains rejuvenated structures painted by Huang Yung-fu Huang, a local artist who covered the buildings in colorful depictions of Chinese characters. Though you don't need to pay an entry fee, you can always donate, or alternatively purchase a souvenir from the gift shop, themed after the artwork in the village. • Just like the name, this place is very colorful. I think it's a great place for a quick visit since you basically can spend less than 30 minutes to walk around the whole area. Yes, the area is pretty small. But, there are few shops of souvenir and some snacks to try. Better come early since a lot of people like to come here, it can pretty crowded after midday. And there's a friendly black dog which is very cute!
  • This place is very interesting. The whole place, setting of a small village, was painted by an old man and is vibrant in colour, hence the name. Not a very big place, but unfortunately, we were there late (like after 5.30 pm, where sun set at 5.30 pm). If possible, go earlier and I am sure you will enjoy the place, with lots of photos to show.
