The Oberrothorn is a mountain of the Swiss Pennine Alps, overlooking Zermatt in the canton of Valais. Its summit can be easily reached via a trail on its southern flank, from the Unterrothorn cable car station or from Sunnegga.Plan to see Oberrothorn and other attractions that appeal to you using our Zermatt trip itinerary app .
Claims are often made that the Oberrothorn has one of the highest hiking trails in the Alps, or that it's the highest Alpine summit which can be walked up. Such statements are subjective, but do reflect the mountain's unusual accessibility for an Alpine summit of its height.
Due to its location to the east of Zermatt, hikers on the main route up and down the mountain are afforded excellent views of the Matterhorn, across the valley, with the popular Hornli Ridge ascent route being prominent.
Desde el teleférico de Blauherd, fuimos al lago Stellisee y de allí a la cima del Faulhorn, para bajar de nuevo y subir al Oberrothorn a 3.414m. The path is well marked as all trails in Switzerland. It is easily accessible, despite the altitude hiking route. There is a piece that there are some chains in the rock, but as a precaution if you were wet, therefore does not entail danger nor is air. On the way to the top, there are a few viewpoints with the figure of a glass eye. very nice. When you arrive, spectacular view surrounded by the 38 four-thousand of the Alps. It is worth!
Door de sneeuwval de vorige nacht (30 cm) was de tocht wel iets pittiger dan voorzien. Al bij al een gemakkelijke tocht met een weids uitzicht op de omgeving more »By the snowfall the previous night (30 cm) was the tour something spicier than expected. All in all, an easy trip with sweeping views of the surrounding area
I recommend walking straight from Zermatt and avoiding the areas around the cable cars.
Beautiful paths to the summit. Super outlook.
