Sitting on a glacier-free part of the massive, Monta Rosa Hut is a favorite refuge for hikers and mountaineers. The ultra-modern building--with aluminum surface reflecting the light and the surrounding landscape--resembles a huge rock crystal. Owned by the Swiss Alpine Club and opened in 2009, the innovative building is self-sufficient in energy. The hut lies on the route to the summit and reaching it is an adventure in its own right, offering outstanding views of glaciers and the Alps' highest peaks. We had an amazing stay in this hut. It is very comfortable and modern, even with showers. The food is great too, with 4 courses for dinner! Delicious Wallis wine and espresso made in a Jura coffee machine! Staff very helpful, special thanks to Roman, Selina, Rebecca and a guy from Nepal! :)
Outside is rough wilderness inside coziness, between is beautiful and ecological modern architecture, which fits the place like it's been here forewer.
