Palais des Nations, Genève, Geneva

4.3
Take a tour of the European home of the United Nations, the monumental Palais des Nations, Genève, which houses a large collection of public art and serves as one of the world's major centers of diplomacy. Built in the 1930s for the now-defunct League of Nations, the classically designed compound hosts thousands of global conferences and smaller meetings, welcoming 25,000 delegates each year. Take the guided tour to see the enormous assembly hall, ornate council chamber, and surrounding landscaped gardens, which offer fine views of the nearby Alps. Security is always tight here, so make your tour reservations well in advance and prepare to show your passport at the entrance. • We came. We saw. We were harassed by various people espousing various causes. Not particularly pleasant. Only "The Broken Chair" sculpture was of any distinction or interest.  more »

  • It's an amazing place where the whole world converges to find a community Human in the best interest of all humanity. The former President of Ireland and the Human Rights Council in Geneva amazingly championing Human Rights to this day is commendable!
  • Seeing the flags is really cool, but you cannot get up close unless you have access to the UN (so you see them from behind a fence). The train takes you all the way up so it’s impossible to get lost. The flags are also cool to see at night.
