See the only preserved 17th-century ship in the world at Vasa Museum, the most-visited museum in Scandinavia. This maritime museum on the island of Djurgården displays a 64-gun warship that sank during its maiden voyage in 1628. The structure on exhibit is almost the complete ship from the wreck, which was decorated with hundreds of original carved sculptures. After decades of restoration work (the ship was salvaged in 1961), the museum opened in 1990. Today more than a million tourists visit the site annually to view the ship's 10 exhibitions in 13 different languages. Vasa Museum Reviews
Tout un musée autour d'un grand bateau. Son épave est installée au centre du bâtiment; le reste concerne son impressionnante histoire. more »A whole museum around a large boat. Its wreck is located in the centre of the building; the rest is about its impressive history.
Jedno z wielu miejsc w Sztokholmie, które naprawdę warto zobaczyć. Muzeum od początku było na mojej liście 'must see', jednak nie sądziłam, że zrobi na mnie aż tak duże wrażenie. The museum from the beginning was on my ' must see ' list, but I didn't think it would make me so much impressive. A wonderful lesson in history! It is worth seeing a movie about the construction of the ship, its sinking and mining after more than 300 years.
Such an impressive piece of history! Well organized and informative exhibitions along the history of this monumental ship. Interesting architecture of the museum and very polite and educated personnel. Well spent money and worth a visit for young and old! No extra charges for lockers or guided tours and clean toilets.
The ship lies in the middle of the museum surrounded by a 5-6 floors where you can find interesting information about it. There is also a kids mini movie based on a kid's book and a short documentary. Was unique and interesting. (Also kids (up to either 17/18( forgot which :( ) get in for free)
