Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Province of Malaga / Costa del Sol / Malaga / Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares
Located in a 17th-century inn, Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares offers a snapshot of life in Málaga as it was centuries ago. Each of the museum's 19 rooms offers a complete look at a particular trade or industry, as shown by its artifacts. Wander through an 18th-century blacksmith shop and emerge into a bakery with a corn-grinding mill and other traditional baking implements. Toward the back of the house, you'll find a room dedicated to the Málagueño fishing industry, including a traditional sardine fishing boat. Other rooms are home to wine-making artifacts, costumes, toys, early printed art, and more. The museum contains a remarkable amount of detail, down to the embers in the bedroom hearth. Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares Reviews
Magnificent old house sympathetically adapted to a museum. All sorts of artifacts and costumes on show. Only 4 euros, excellent value. more »
I thought I would just pop in and go somewhere else but spent all afternoon in there. Every room tells a story, it has a homely atmosphere and the many exhibits are in wonderful condition more »
Great selection of historic artefacts on the ground floor, and a fantastic gallery of cultural works above, all in a beautiful building
It is a beautiful, traditional house with impressive collection of objects from past centuries. We liked especially the clothing and kid toys but there is a lot more. The entrance fee is 4 EUR per adult and kids go in for free. We spent in over 1h on a cold winter day and definitely recommend.
