Catedral De Cuenca, Cuenca

The specific Gothic architecture of the 12th-century Catedral De Cuenca may seem a little out of place in Castile. Inspired by Richard the Lionheart’s sister, Eleanor Plantagenet, who married Castilian King Alfonso VIII, it’s Anglo-Norman in style. The 20th-century facade may lead you to think that the cathedral is smaller than it really is. On the inside, you’ll find lots of light and enormous dimensions. Be sure to get the audio guide. • Great place to escape the hot summer sun. 8.50 euros for access to all the cathedral's highlights including the tower. Well worth a few hours.  more »

  • A really impressive cathedral which has the added attraction of a audio tour. Thus really enhances tour visit and gives some on-site into the history. I would suggest paying a small extra to visit the towers but be aware the spiral stairs are quite confined albeit some if the easiest I have encountered in cathedrals in Spain.
  • The village is a wonderful experience. More than just the hanging houses. Stunning views and so peaceful and relaxing.
