Constructed of red brick, Jeondong Catholic Church honors the Joseon Dynasty Catholic martyrs, massacred on this site in the 18th century. Constructed in 1908 according to a design by Priest Poinel, the church combines Romanesque and Byzantine architectural styles to create a classical structure topped with three domed bell towers. You cannot enter the church, so stroll around the site's exterior and, if you can get past the crowds, try to take a peek from the entrance into the lavishly decorated interior.   Inside the Cathedral is not very ornate however the best thing is the way it towers over the village. Some really lovely photographs.  more »

  100여년의 역사가 담긴, 순교의 역사를 만날 수 있었어요. 오래된 붉은 벽돌의 아담한 성당이예요. 내부에는 경건한 마음으로 예배드릴 수 있고, 낡았지만 깔끔하고, 따뜻한 분위기도 좋았어요.  more »

  I was able to see the history of martyrdom, which has a history of over 100 years. It's a small cathedral of old red bricks. The room was clean and comfortable.

  Old Catholic Church which is more than a century. The outlook might be humble but inside of it has a classic, magnificent beauty of catholic architecture. It’s a landmark figure in Jeonju han-ok village. It would be much better if there is a tour guide who can explain more about it. I heard it has a long history related with religion. Looking back at the religious history of Korea it was never easy to settle down in Korea. A pamphlet written in English might be a great help to know about this place.
