Hailed as the country's oldest botanical garden, Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden shelters an enormous collection of both indigenous and introduced plant species. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, the garden serves an educational purpose and serves both the students and the general public. Look for bonsai trees, ferns, succulents, insectivorous species, and medicinal plants, then head to the visitor center to purchase books, seeds, and various garden-related products or to the restaurant in the middle of the garden. • A must visit for the flora-fanatic. Enjoyed a great light lunch - quiche recommended! Enjoyed the serenity of the gardens and the plenty of species to see. A botanical feast!
  • The R10 entrance is well worth the visit. I love the botanical garden, with all the rare and interesting plants, although there are signs that the Western Cape had a severe drought. There is a beautiful pond and a lovely restaurant, Katjiepiering, to visit as well.
