Hike up to Lion's Head, a dramatic peak overlooking the city and offering panoramic views of Table Mountain National Park. The 669 m (2,195 ft) tall mountain lies next to the smaller, flat-topped Signal Hill, also known as Lion's Rump. You can reach the top on foot only on a relatively easy, scenic trek from Signal Hill. Although steep, the hike, suitable for children, doesn't present a challenge and will reward you with a picturesque picnic spot and viewpoint. Lion's Head Reviews
Yes, Table Mountain is gorgeous and the views are ever-changing, but Lion's Head is cool in that you get a closer view of the waters and the hike itself has cool apparatuses like ladders and chains... more »
We did the hike on lions head which took us approximately 1hour 30 minutes one way. the rewards are endless once you reach the top. Amazing views of Cape Town. Cape Town is too beautiful from the top.... more »
A great mountain to hike. There is an easier path and longer route to the top, if you do not want to attempt the section which includes handheld hooks. There are several paths to Signal Hill from the start of the lions head hike as well.
Absolutely amazing! We hiked up and down and got some incredible views and photo ops on the way. The hike itself is not hard, even if you’re not the fittest person like me. Up at the top there wasn’t too many people (sunset time). Make sure you bring water as there is nowhere to freshen up and on a hot day you will need to. Will definitely do this again.
