Monument · Hidden Gem · Landmark
Posing casually on the back of a bench, Napoleon’s Army Soldier Statue represents a local legend that sprang from the French imperial army's time in the Slovak capital. The bronze statue stands in the city's main square with his hat at a jaunty angle, casually surveying the crowds. As the story goes, the soldier fell in love with a Bratislavan girl and ended up staying for the rest of his life. Many visitors pose for a picture with the famous soldier, imitating his pose by standing at his side with crossed arms. • Only low review score because the statue has been moved, but no-one seemd to no where....and yet all the tourist information is still showing this as being in the main square leaning on the seat...  more »
  • Plenty of these attractions dotted around the streets of Bratislava. There’s a series of favourite is the man peeping out of the manhole. Very good for photographs.  more »
  • The soldier has deserted his post. A most grievous dereliction of duty!
  • Confirming this statue is gone! Supposedly removed summer of 2018 by some drunks... never seen again.
