Trace Asia’s rich maritime history and the city’s heritage as a trading port with a trip to The Maritime Experiential Museum. The site provides an interactive, multi-sensory experience that walks visitors through more than 60,000 artifacts salvaged from an Arabian dhow shipwreck discovered in 1998. The museum is also home to a life-size reproduction of that ship, called Jewel of Muscat. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the ship's construction and blueprint, and experience a typhoon in the theatre simulation. The museum dives into many different countries and cultures, offering a broad perspective on maritime history. The Maritime Experiential Museum Reviews
Visiting this placing was really great experience. We got to know the history of trade in Singapore. more »
Included for free in our Universal Studios ticket, so we visited. It's a beautiful space and very well set out, but we don't feel we learned all that much and wouldn't specifically pay to go in and... more »
The museum is filled with interesting facts that are presented in various ways, some are interactive while others are shown in holographic. Such methods capture visitors attention easily and the information are broken down into small pieces that can be absorbed easily into visitor's mind. The experience is awesome and it is recommended for kids to learn and explore.
A pretty decent museum in my opinion. You can go around it in detail in about an hour. There is a side show on for an extra 3 dollars so considering all this, I'd probably say it isn't worth the $12 entrance fee. However, if the ticket is bought in conjunction with the aquarium ticket or another exhibition (in my case I paid $15 for this and the One Piece exhibition, which was fantastic, might I add) then it becomes very worthwhile. On its own, not so much...^_^
