Cousin, Cousin Island

Wildlife Area · Nature / Park
Spot rare birds among the unspoiled nature of Cousin, a small mass of granite rock encircled by a long sandy beach. Mangroves and freshwater swamps with indigenous plants cover this 34 hectare (84 acre) plateau, sheltering the rare Seychelles warbler, fody, magpie-robin, sunbird, blue pigeon, and Malagasy turtle dove, as well as the giant Aldabra tortoise. A former coconut plantation, the island was reforested in 1968 and today hosts over 300,000 nesting birds.
