Regarded as the turning point of World War II by many historians, the battle raged on from August 1942 to February 1943 and claimed approximately 1.5 million lives on both sides of the Russo-German conflict. Learn about the war in Russia and how Volgograd was devastated in one day. View a sword that was a gift to the city from the British empire to commemorate the Battle of Stalingrad, and Zaytsev's sniper rifles exhibit. The top floor, only accessible as part of a guided tour, features a 360-degree panoramic painting of the battlefield in 1942 from the location of the monument on Mamayev Kurgan. Four other panoramas depict battle scenes during different seasons. The exhibits only offer explanations in Russian so pre-order a guide in another language by calling ahead or use the website to book a bilingual guide.   In the Lenin Museum you can see everything related to the Battle of Stalingrado and on the esplanade outside the rest of the buildings preserved after the battle. It's very sad to see and think about what the war was like
