Triumph Arch, Bucharest

3.4
Originally built to mark Romania's independence, Triumph Arch is designed after the Parisian Arc de Triomphe and celebrates Classicism. The existing 27 m (89 ft) high arch was raised in 1935 at the site of two earlier, temporary arches--one made of wood in 1878 and the other erected after World War I. Notice the bas-reliefs, stone carvings, and medallions on the facade of the monument. The decorations include royal crowns and the representations of Queen Mary and King Ferdinand. Climb the interior staircase to the top terrace and take in panoramic views of the city. • It's not something to write home about, nothing special. Only if you visit Harastrau Park and the Village Museum nearby, you may take some photos with the Arch in the backround. Just that, dont waste ...  more »

  • Unfortunately, like everywhere in Bucharest is a tourist attraction in the middle of a traffic chaos. Multi-track roundabout outdoor rum, but here are a nice Park. Itself but very impressive and beautiful to look at.

  • Very nice and impressive. Highly recommended, especially during the night as it is lighted with nice lights and looks great in photos. There is also a huge park right next to it which is worth having a walk in there.
  • In 2016 when I was there they were working on it, and you couldn't get near it... Now the construction is done and it's a sight to behold, majestic and breath taking, and stunning to see at night when it's all lit up. A must see if you travel to Bucharest!
  • Want to go to Paris but end up in Bucharest? Bucharest is known as little Paris for a reason and this attraction is one! It is located close to the Village Museum which is a must see in your Bucharest adventures so before or after the visit to the museum, take a short walk to see the Arc!
  • A major landmark for Bucharest. Repaired and cleaned up first time after many years. As nice and full of history as its similar Archs in Paris, Berlin.
  • It is surely something which attracts tourist's attention. It would be one of the less remainings, which still shows how it was like, when the city was called as small Paris in eastern Europe. While I recognize this as a major landmark in the city, I would say it's enough to see from the bus, which connects city center and international airport. Around the gate, there's not much to see. Or if you want to take a picture at the closer range, you can get off the bus at the stop called "Arcul de Triumf," as the bus usually comes every 15-20 min.
