#1 of 205 in Museums in Romania
See what peasant life was like hundreds of years ago at Muzeul National al Satului "Dimitrie Gusti". The open-air site, founded on the shores of a lake in 1936, exhibits nearly 300 structures of rural architecture brought from Romania's historical regions. Walk among steep-roofed peasant homes, farmsteads, log cabins, thatched barns, windmills, and water mills. Take time to visit the steep belfry of the wooden church, the earth houses, and the carved entrances of the 18th-century houses from Berbeşti. Amenities include a souvenir shop selling folk arts and crafts, a stall with traditional Romanian sweets and cakes, and a restaurant set in an original 19th-century inn. • Romania is also aggregated with the original state of the village houses, surrounded by nature. Contains a selection to a place you need to see when your way

  • Walk in rural Romania, get acquainted with different areas, see a significant difference in the life of the villagers of regions-quite interesting. Of course, compared to life in our village, something to take note of this.

  • Nice place. Sessions where different types of housing throughout the ages in Romania. Very similar to these places we have seen in Ireland and Norway, and more. Walk lightly sweet views along the river. There is a small restaurant and souvenir shop. Worth two to three hours.

  • Great collection of rural dwellings from all over Romania. The houses are very well kept. It's the fastest way to discover each region's specifics.
  • Really nice open air museum where someone can have an idea of the housing, the dressing and other costumes in Romania from the 17th century till the 19th century. Many of the houses are open so you can check the inside decoration etc. My personal opinion is that it’s a bit abandoned and needs renovation. Friendly ticket staff but really impolite security guys with no idea of English and good manners. Such a pity... it’s recommended though for a visit to have a folklore idea. Tickets can be paid cash or with credit card.
  • Interesting, like a park Been here several times for a walk or for university drawing projects while student. The place is calm and with some very beautiful old traditional houses but, in the same time it is an old, classic museum. There is no much life inside and some houses are dusty and look abandoned. Overall the place is nice to have a weekend long walk or to vary children activities.
  • Huge museum of buildings. I only had 2 hours to spend here. Not nearly long enough. Extremely good value attraction.
  • Huge, beautiful village. Cheap ticket. Perfect for a family walk
