Walk, cycle, jog, take a boat ride on the lake, or just sit in one of the quiet, shady corners of Herăstrău Park. The park was laid out in the 1930s on the lakeshore, which had been the favorite promenade for the city's rich since the late 19th century. Today you'll find numerous attractions, including an open-air village museum, a royal palace, an old-fashioned fairground, an aquarium, a summer theater, and many small pavilions hosting art exhibits. Walk its alleyways lined with roses, old trees, water fountains, and benches. As you walk, notice the park's many sculptures representing statesmen, artists, poets, and fictional characters, such as Prince Charming. Explore summer terraces on the lakeshore, visit the tennis courts, rent a bike, or stop for a bite to eat. The park also features a memorial to Michael Jackson. Herăstrău Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Bucharest Edition.

  • A beautiful and magic park in the north of Bucharest. Ideal for jogging, boat rides, cycling, spend time with the family. One of the oldest park in Bucharest. Till the year 2018 the park name was Herastrau, it was been changed after King Michael I of Romania died last year
  • One of the few green spots in Bucharest... unfortunatelly very few compared to our needs. We need more parks like this. Large lake in the middle, boat rides available when worm enough outside. Good for jogging, responsible bike rides and relaxation. Some decent restaurants as well if you know what you are looking for. Visit this one and the Village Museum next to it, you won't regret it.
  • Beautiful lake scenery, possibility to rent a boat. Green alleys, beautiful flowers and a Japanese garden. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Very good park for family and friends, many things to do such as cycle or go on the small ferris wheel at the other aide. Many restaurants available and many little shops are scattered all around. Bike trails need finishing though, a lot of holes.
  • A park with great potential. Could do better with improvements to the green areas. As the single true park in Bucharest I wish it was transformed into a sustainable, self funding open space.
