Le Voile de la Mariee, Salazie

#6 of 11 in Things to do in Salazie
At an altitude of 500 m (1,640 ft), Le Voile de la Mariee cascades through a series of cliffs into a lush valley below. Legend states that the falls were formed from the tears of a father who lost his daughter down a deep precipice. Hikers can trek to the bottom of the waterfall where you can get close to the falling water. Be sure to wear appropriate footware (that can get wet) and step carefully, as the rocks near the water can be slippery. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Salazie holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Le Voile de la Mariee and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • In the amazing panorama of the Salazie circle open these amazing waterfalls that start from the top of the peaks, to descend among the lush vegetation and along the steep recces, until you fall into a wild stream. One wonders where all this water comes from from the top of the mountains.

  • Forbidden to approach it, you have to stop on the road and observe it from afar... Even so, if you're sporty and agile enough, it's still possible to access it through an old trail ;)
