At an elevation of 2,311 m (7,580 ft), Pas de Bellecombe serves as a mountain pass and viewpoint overlooking the caldera of an active volcano. The viewpoint provides expansive views of the outer caldera and the volcano itself,showcasing an alien-like landscape. The crater, at 900 meters (2,950 ft) wide, remains active. The pass is named after Guillaume Leonard de Bellecombe, an 18th century governor of the island.   • Beautiful Vista. But the drive up the Mountain is equally impressive. The hikes are far and time consuming, but you will enjoy the trip to the top without doing the hikes.  more »
  • Wonderful views perfect hiking terain. Trails are well marked. Maps are available. You can not get lost. Bring lots of water and food for a nice picknic.  more »
