Adults and children will enjoy this place. Beautiful architecture, beautiful displays. My favorite one is the penguins but the giant fish aquariums are just amazing! Not to be missed in Lisbon! more »
In my last full day in Lisbon, I wanted to hit a couple of key spits before heading back home and the Lisbon aquarium was near the top of my list. As someone who loves aquariums, the Lisbon aquarium is an upper echelon one maybe not on the level of the aquarium in Chicago or Vancouver but just below that. It's nicely sized neither being too big or too small so that you can spend a couple of hours there easy and all of their exhibits are expertly created and tended to. The only complaint is when it is full it does get cramped. Highly recommend.
This was such a cool aquarium. It wasn't too small or too big, and there was a great variety of aquatic life to see. The temporary exhibit right now (December 2019) was about an underground forest constructed by a very talented Japanese gentleman; definitely worth the visit and extra few euros. The permanent exhibits were really good, too - cute penguins and otters to a large variety of amphibians and fish. Beyond that, I really appreciated the conservation reminders and realities that they cleverly placed around the exhibits. We expected to spend under an hour there, but ended up spending closer to 2 hours.
