Boca do Inferno, or "The Mouth of Hell," features a natural rock arch with a cave that is known for sucking in ocean waves and shooting water out the top. Nestled in a dramatic environment of eroded cliffs and enormous waves, the site is a well-known photography spot. You can easily reach it by foot, and then follow stairs and bridges around it to get a better view or climb down to the cave if the ocean is calm. Be aware, however, that locals advise against climbing due to the sharp rocks. We arrived 10 minutes before the sun set, afraid not to see the sunset through the clouds on the horizon but at that moment they dissipated and gave way to the sun. What impresses this site most is the ocean hitting the cliffs. All this accompanied by the violin music of a street artist :)
A super easy pit stop if you're already in Cascais. A good viewpoint of the cliffs in the area and the ocean. Great views and you may be able to even spot a few local fishermen in the area. Be careful with getting to close to any edge and respect the safety signs; this place is not named after a particularly tame weather/waves. If you're lucky though you may be able to - safely - experience the power and magnificence of the Atlantic ocean as its waves crash into the cliffs. There's even a restaurant glued to it and while you probably would assume it's a touristic trap due its proximity to a landmark, the restaurant actually caters to a large local crowd and is a really nice place to get some really fresh seafood (although I would have to argue the prices are much more touristy than I remember them in my youth - this just for the restaurant; Boca do Inferno is completely for free).
Interesting spot to visit. Not too large in size. It's a very rocky area with warning signs near the cliff edge. Nice to watch and listen to the waves caressing the rock, and swishing back out to sea. There is a small market selling cork bags, embroidered tablecloths, household items and souvenirs. Couple of nice coffee shops to sit outside and watch the world go by!
