Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Krakow

4.6
Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is best known for larger-than-life stone statues of 12 apostles perched on the front fence. The statues are contemporary replicas of the 18th-century Baroque originals, which can be seen in the side yard. King Sigismund III Vasa commissioned the church for the Jesuit order in the early 1600s. Notice the sculptures depicting Jesuit saints in the niches of its white, stone facade. The interior features the late Baroque high altar and the longest Foucault pendulum in Poland, hanging from the dome. The crypt shelters the remains of Father Skarga, a famous 17th-century Jesuit preacher. Try to catch a concert of classical music here. • You find the church between old market square and Wawel, closer the Wawel. It is a baroque style church, very nice. It is free to visit but you can get an audioguide for some donation which tells us...  more »
  • this may well be the most beautiful church building in Krakow. Not only is the front of the building beautiful, but it has statues of the 12 apostles out front of it. There's much to see.  more »

  • Beautiful church on the road between Wawel Royal Castle and the main square in Krakow. We only spent around 30 to 45 minutes inside and found that was enough time , to take a good look around. Inside there is a collection box used to help maintain this old and beautiful church . Which was built in the early 1600s. As we went in we noticed that they do classical concerts inside the church in the evening.
  • This is a beautiful place. The exterior has this Pantheon of sculptures which are incredibly engaging to look at. The view in the evening is very inspiring and picturesque. During the day there's usually a lot of traffic around this area as it is a common place for Street performers. It's a very Visually striking place. The street performers one day were an opera singer and the next day there was an outdoor DJ duo set up. Because it is opposite of a small courtyard, the audio echoes really well. But the sight is definitely worth passing by. There's also very good eating places very close to it.
