Bazylika i Klasztor Franciszkanow, Krakow

4.7
Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Church
Home of a replica Shroud of Turin, Bazylika i Klasztor Franciszkanow was one of the first tall buildings in the city. The church touts remarkable stained-glass windows and murals by Stanisław Wyspiański. Because of the colored-glass panes, the interior bursts with bright hues on sunny days, highlighting other spots of inspiration like the tiles and vivid paint colors. The church is rarely crowded. Photos are allowed in certain areas of the building. • What makes this church truly remarkable is the stained glass windows authored by Stanislaw Wyspianski, an original Polish artist.  more »

  • Very beautiful. The dark colouring in the paintings make it striking and unusual. The much plainer exterior may make you skip it but it is worth a visit.
  • We haven't visited the church itself but the garden outside is ideal for the picnic. You can also enjoy a view of the popes' John Paul's 2 famous window
