Visit Parafia Wang to see a medieval Norwegian wooden church built without nails and held together by wooden joints. A Prussian king bought this 12th-century stave church from a village in Norway. The building was taken to pieces, shipped in boxes, and reconstructed in southern Poland in 1844. Check out the Norwegian architectural details carved in wood, such as lions, winged dragons, and runes. Look for a runic inscription on the doorway of the church, probably identifying artist Eindridi--nicknamed dexterous or handy--responsible for the decorations. The pathway near the church is lined with many stalls selling tourist gifts, food and hot drinks, beer, and vodka. Parafia Wang Reviews
The history of the church is very interesting, considering that it was transported from Norway to this part of Poland (Lower Silesia). They have interesting history facts posted around the church... more »
Absolutely gorgeous place to visit. Must see. A little walk up the hill but worth the effort and it's easier to get down. more »
One of the last remaining true Nordic churches. Nice history, surrounding landscape and vibe.
The church has a very interesting vibe. It's permeated with history and culture. Viking wood carvings and candelabras were a curiousity worth seeing upclose.
