TDF Ghar, Karachi

4.8
#2 of 9 in Historic Sites in Karachi
The Dawood Foundation has restored a 1930's home to reminisce about the glorious history of Karachi, its citizens and its welcoming nature. TDF Ghar is a tribute to this city. Under an old almond tree, with views of the Mazar-e-Quaid and original hand-crafted tiles, Hajiani Hanifa Bai’s 1930s home, is an enchanting sanctuary in the heart of old Karachi’s Jamshed Quarters. Now called TDF Ghar, the home retains its heritage features, but has been transformed into a public space, to re-live the true spirit of residents of this old cosmopolitan city, when it was truly a city of lights, of wide leafy boulevards, of opportunity, of discourse, of harmonious co-existence, where tolerance was prevalent. Seeing TDF Ghar at twilight, makes for a magical evening with views of the Bagh-e-Mazar e Quaid. Shahab Ghani & Associates volunteered to assist TDF in restoring TDF Ghar as part of their contribution to the city.

  • Best place to chill out! They roof top sitting area is lit especially at night! Must Visit. Plus they've got such a courteous staff too.
  • I was really wanting to go to this place. This Sunday we went with our family. The place is very well maintained. Was very impressed. The only thing which bothered us is that as we were in a big group we were not guided adequately that they were under staffed and it was not easy for them to serve food on the roof. The food took too long to reach us. There are no proper cutlery and glasses. They did not serve any. Had to drink water from the bottle only. Similarly no plates. Still we enjoyed the sun and our breakfast. Also loved the guided tour.
