About Mohaka Rafting Trips

Mohaka Rafting provides full day as well as multi-day raft trips on grade 2, 3, and Grade 5 water.

The grade 2 is a float trip for young families (recommended minimum age 5 years) or those who just wish to sit back and float down the river and admire the scenery.

The full day grade 3 is our most popular rafting trip that provides Adventure in beautiful scenic surrounds. This is the “fun run” with a recommended minimum age 12 years (this age could lower in low flows at management’s discretion). There are cliff jumps, gorges, and canyons, visit a gold mine and swim rapids during approximately 4 - 5 hours on the water (depending on river flows). No experience needed.

On the grade 4/5 full day trip experience expect house size boulders, massive cliffs, and geological oddities as you get propelled through narrow shoots. This is a serious trip (minimum age 16 years). Truly incredible scenery, well worth raising the adrenalin levels for. A VIP pass to the wilderness. You will see why our guides feel they have the best job in the world. You will need to have a degree of fitness and be able to jump around in the raft.

Mohaka Rafting 3 or 4 Day Classic self supported expedition gives guests an amazing grade 2/3 rafting experience through the remote and beautiful Kaweka Forest Park. We helicopter in, ruff camping at thermal pools one night and a scenic camp on the other nights. Rafting out to our base over 3 or 4 days depending on clients needs.

The Mohaka Rafting Coast 3 Day Expedition is a vehicle supported expedition that combines the grade 3, the grade 4/5, and then finishes with a float through a scenic canyon to the coast.
