The state-of-the-art visitor center lets you learn about these amazing birds and about the center's preservation work that started in the early 20th century. The indoor viewing area lets you observe the creatures in their natural environment throughout the year without disturbing them. The center also organizes various other tours of the Otago Peninsula, including visits to a little penguin colony and the historical Fort Taiaroa, home of the world's only functional Armstrong disappearing gun.
