Listed as the country's first World Heritage Site, Twyfelfontein contains peculiar rock engravings, petroglyphs, and paintings. Inhabited for more than 6,000 years, the site provided a home for hunter-gatherer tribes that probably conducted shamanistic rituals at this location--their imagery and pictograms remain scattered about. As you explore the protected site, observe the diverse rock art that portrays wild animals, footprints, and symbols of an ancient belief system. Beautiful to see the drawings in the rocks. We booked a guided tour (arranged locally) from 45 minutes. With a group of 9 people we walked around with our guide. It was quite warm in August, take enough water and protect your head from the sun. Do good shoes because of the clammy on the rocks. Please note that they also charge a fee for parking, they "watch" on your car. There are several tours per day.View original -

the wonderful journey to Namibia took us thousands of miles. Twyfelfontein was one of the few places we spent 2 nights. It was a need related to the need to take a break after the southern tour. We were initially unconvinced but the graffiti I think should be seen ! They excited us so I can only recommend that small detour and the 2 hours spent to see how much they left the people who among those stones lived !View original

Loved our guide for the hike (I think it was Dion). The cravings have lasted for thousands of years and it’s incredible to see them in person. Plus the surrounding scenery is gorgeous.

Historic rock engravings. Not that much of an attraction itself, but mountain and valley views are nice. You have to hike a bit through rocks to see drawings. Road is quite bad.
