Spitzkoppe, Damaraland

#4 of 88 in Outdoors in Namibia
Hiking Trail · National Park
Scamper around magnificent rock formations at Spitzkoppe, a series of granite peaks. Rising out dramatically from a flat, desolate landscape, the highest peak stands at 1,784 m (5,853 ft) above sea level, some 700 m (2,300 ft) from the desert floor below. See rock paintings by Khoi San people, some of which are several hundred years old, and enjoy the sight of dassie rats popping out of the cracks in the rock. This area offers high-grade rock climbs and great safari opportunities, but make sure to bring plenty of water with you. See Spitzkoppe and all Damaraland has to offer by arranging your trip with our Damaraland trip planning website.
