  • I have been going to Chipinque since I was a kid. What fascinates me the most is the fact that in a few minutes, less than 20 minutes, you go from an altitud of 500+ meters above the sea level to 1000 meters and the change in the vegetation and the weather is amazing. The park offers a hotel and a restaurant which features awesome views of the city, specially at night. You do not believe you are just a few minutes from Mexico’s third largest city.
  • Beautiful and mostly natural ecological reserve. The best way to experience it is to park just outside the entrance (20 pesos per person to go in by foot, 150 flat by car), and start your trek upwards through the routes available by the edge of the road. There are three parts in total to the climb, the first is pretty easy to go through, it's mostly just wooden steps and most will make it through fine unless you're in absolute misery health-wise. The second part of the climb is the longest and probably the most arduous, any who aren't somewhat prepared will probably die (not really, just complain a lot and probably ask for a ride the rest of the way and be unable to complete the climb without a long rest). The third is the same as the first, only tough if you're tired already. Along the way you'll be treated to beautiful views, just be sure to wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting dirty. There's also rest areas with vending machines where you can stop for a break. The climb is totally worth it as at the summit, you'll find a couple of different park attractions plus two giant concrete slides (though be sure to bring something you can slide on like a cardboard box or a jacket you don't like too much, especially if you're more on the skinny side, as you won't get much downward momentum otherwise). You can also just go up by car, you're sure to find parking available at different parts of Chipinque. Beware bears, don't feed the wildlife and drive slowly.
