The Cave of Swallows, Aquismon

Observe the deep abyss of The Cave of Swallows: with a depth of 370 m (1,214 ft) from its highest side, it ranks as the world's largest known cave shaft. Extreme sport enthusiasts can attempt the adrenaline-inducing vertical climb down to the cave floor. Be warned, however, that once on the floor you'll likely encounter snakes and other unpleasant creepy-crawlies. Even if you aren't planning to climb down the cave, arriving at the opening requires a strenuous descent along hundreds of steps, making it unsuitable for the elderly or those with mobility issues. With our world travel planner, Aquismon attractions like The Cave of Swallows can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The first thing to say is that if you have vertigo and it makes them lazy to walk a lot this is not the place you should go. The second important thing is to say that the interesting thing about the basement is to see the immense flock that comes out at dawn. While you see thousands in the evening, the morning show is well worth a de-marrick. The place charges both parking and entrance. The descent to the basement takes at a good pace of 30 minutes. Upon arriving at the place there are several points that show the imposing cliff, which the locals tie you up so you can peek. There are drops that require a payment of between 3000 and 5000 pesos. Here time and condition is required, the place must arrive preferably eaten, there are no good bathrooms. Place of stunning beauty, it is very worth seeing this spectacle of nature.

  • The walk is very interesting, although very demanding, the descent and then the climb of 560 steps, which are not at all even, is very tired, especially for those who are not used to exercising, my "chamorros" claimed it for two more days. However, the sight of the beauty of the place and the spectacle of birds is very rewarding, you have to be patient because there is no fixed time for the show and the "butacas", which are very picuded stones, are quite uncomfortable. We went in the morning and, having stayed in Ciudad Valles, we had to get up early to arrive at good time. In the end, you come out with a smile of satisfaction of a very pleasant time.
