Trip Planner: Asia / Malaysia / Melaka State / Central Melaka District / Melaka / St. Peter's Church
Visit St. Peter's Church to discover the oldest functioning Roman Catholic Church in Malaysia, completed more than 300 years ago. Constructed by the early Portuguese colonists in the first decade of the 18th century, the simple yet elegant structure features a combination of Eastern and Western architectural styles. One of the building's bells dates back to 1608 and was brought here from an older Dutch church. Stop by to admire the largely unadorned interior, or stand in front and take a few photos of this historically significant shrine. St. Peter's Church Reviews
밤에 가는 걸 추천함. 아마 이 근처 유적들 중에는 가장 높은 자리에 있을거임. 갈색 건물 계단 통해서 올라가서 돌아가길 추천. 밤이 더 좋다. more »It's a good place to stay. Probably the highest of the nearby ruins. It's a good place to go and go back. Night is better.
This church is a ruin, however it is still interesting. There are a number of headstones along the walls. There is a good view of Malacca from here as well. There is also a plaque in the floor of the ... more »
For those from outstation going for Mass, would recommend St. Peters Church, Melaka. Ample free parking inside church compound. Recently renovated and full upgrading done. Church is fully air-conditioned. However, the dress code is strictly monitored by Father Lionel. Very friendly but a strict Priest. So I would advice the congregation to be generous and not stingy with their dressing. Hope you get my point. The sermon given by Father Lionel is very lively and keeps you glued till the end of the Mass. Sunset mass is on Saturdays at 5.30pm and Sunday mass is at 10.30am. The landscape outside the church is nice. Most of the people from the Portuguese community patronize this church.
The church is well maintained. It is fully aircon and the wardens are very friendly. They will guide you to a vacant pew. Parking is if no problem. A lot of parking lot around the church compound. The Parish Priest is very friendly.
