The St. John's Fort (Kubu St. John) is a historical fort in Melaka City, Melaka, Malaysia.
The fort was constructed during the Dutch Malacca in the 18th century to guard against landward attack. It was once a private chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
The fort is located at the top of St. John's Hill. It was built from Laterite stone and bricks. The fort had only one entrance and its outer walls range between 3-4 meters high.
The fort has canons that are facing inland because the Dutch feared inland threats from Acehnese and Bugis invaders more than maritime invasions.

  • This seat is in the castle on the hill, the main ancient building of The Malacca, and is accessed by transport. Go down the hill and walk or walk up. The castle is still filled with cannons, but there are fewer visitors here and a little quiet. It is common for people to sit in the pavilion and chat, and in the afternoon there will be monkeys coming out to eat, not to build food, so as not to create more problems.

  • This is a well-preserved historical site on top of a little hill. It was a fort during Portuguese and Dutch rule. There are information board for visitors to understand more about its history. Now this is a popular place for joggers, especially in the morning and evening. There is a road leading up to the fort, with trees along the road providing canopy. You can park your car at the foothill, and walk up about 400metres to the fort, or you can drive your car up but the road is quite narrow. There are monkeys on the trees but they are friendly.
  • Best place for light exercise...nice view n historical place.
