Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia Reviews
I wasn't expecting much from the museum so was pleasantly surprised by the quality of exhibits. Its right next to the National Museum (also a must see), and worth making the time for. more »
KTM... more »It is about four minutes from the National Mosque. Admission is 14 ringgit. It is recommended to visit together with the National Mosque (admission free). There seem to be a lot of visitors of the People of the Islamic world. I used TAXI (Grab) from the hotel to the National Mosque. After visiting the National Mosque, the museum was about four minutes' walk away. Because it is close to KTM Kuala Lumpur station, I used it on the way back, but it is difficult to cross the driveway to get to the station, and KTM is not recommended because the number of trains is considerably small.
I could easily spend 2-3 hours here to go through all the artifacts. I love the ambiance. There's also a nice Cafe on the ground floor for cup of coffee. The place is much more interesting if there's an exhibition ongoing.
It's my favourite place in Kuala Lumpur. It's only three storeys but the detail is immense. They have scale models of various types of mosques from different countries which have their own style of building. They also have textiles, calligraphy, paintings, furniture jewellery. The gift shop is so great, it's like a gallery itself. I'd definitely go again.
