  A beautiful castle with a detailed explanation in four languages (German, English, Russian and in the language of the natives). The complex was renovated a few years ago and was perfected in 2017 with a knight's monument. It is worth a detour or a trip.

  Kastela tipa Aizputes pils būvniecību 13. gadsimtā sāka ordeņmestrs Dītrihs fon Groningens. Sākotnējai pilij bija priekšpils, stūra torņi un koka ēkas pagalmā. Tā kalpoja kā robežnocietinājums Livonijas ordeņa un Kurzemes bīskapa teritoriju sastapšanās vietā. 15. gadsimtā pie pils mūra austrumu sienas uzcelts dzīvojamais korpuss ar pagrabiem un galeriju. Pagalmā virs vārtiem daļēji saglabājies apmetums ar dekoratīvo apdari sgrafito tehnikā.

  The construction of Kastela-type castle in the 13th century was started by the Grand Master Dietrich von Groningen. The original palace was a hallway, corner towers and a wooden building in the yard. It served as a threshold for meeting the Livonian Order and the Bishop of Kurzeme. In the 15th century near the castle wall is erected a living cabinet with basements and galleries. In the yard above the gate is partially preserved plaster with decorative decoration in the technique of Sgrafito.
