At Kosovo Museum, explore the culture and past of a country that, although newly formed, boasts a long, rich history. Kosovo's national museum serves as the earliest institution of cultural heritage in Kosovo, founded in 1949, and the Austro-Hungarian style building that houses its artifacts dates back to the late 19th century. Rotating exhibits explore different aspects of the nation's history, and there is a permanent gallery dedicated to the Kosovo War of 1998-1999. Limited information is provided in English, but visitors can witness photos, international newspaper stories, and the flags of NATO countries that intervened. Be warned, there are some graphic and potentially disturbing images on display. To visit Kosovo Museum and other attractions in Pristina, use our Pristina journey planner.

The museum has two floors. The upper floor is more about the modern history, and the lower floor is on the archaeological side. The museum is small but still worths the visit, 30 to 45 minutes should be enough to cover both floors. Unfortunately the upper floor only has captions in Albanian, I asked the staff there and he said they are working on the English captions. The museum is free of charge.
While exploring town we have found this museum and as we did not have too much time we were not certain whether to enter or not. Guard was very polite and he encouraged us to enter along with information that entrance is free of charge but you can give donation. It is interesting one with lower part covering ancient history and upper part most recent one i.e. 1999 war with many interesting things to see.
