Oya temple Reviews
岩壁に組み込まれたように建てられている... more »When I climbed Mt. Ishiri in Kanuma, I was able to descend early, so I stopped here. The parking lot was also empty because it was a weekday. The parking lot in front of the temple is free of charge if you visit the temple (the visit fee is 400 yen). There seems to be a free municipal parking lot a little away. I couldn't take it easy because I arrived at the ihate sightseeing bus and went to worship with the group. Even so, I felt the flow of time for Kannon, who prayed in the main hall. The main hall, which is built as built into the rock wall, also feels in harmony with nature. I'd like to visit again. Peace Kannon in the park behind the parking lot is also healed by a calm face.
more »I didn't have much time to watch it slowly, so I'd like to see it slowly next time. The last time I visited was an elementary school excursion. In the past, there were many sightseeing buses and excursions, and it was lively, but recently I feel lonely as a local because I have been lonely in this neighborhood.
Here you can experience a unique part of Japan's history. This Temple is connected to the nearby Oya History Museum, where the unique Oya stone was mined. This site has many Buddha's engraved in the Oya stone, including a giant one, over 30 ft tall. The scenery and shrines are beautiful, but there's not much else there.
This temple doesn't look like much from outside but its main hall is nestled under an imposing cliff and houses a collection of Buddhist figures carved into the rock. One of them in particular is said to be the oldest of its kind in Japan at over 1000 years old. Worth the 400 yen when you consider the money needed for preservation.
