Haruna Shrine, Takasaki

Step back into the distant past and visit the ancient Haruna Shrine, built in the sixth century. Sitting about halfway up Mt. Hurana, one of the three mountains of Jomo, the shrine is dedicated to the gods of fire, water, and agriculture. Its main gateway slowly reveals itself as you make your way up hill, gaining an ever-expanding view over the horizon. The gate's east-west orientation results in the sun providing an amazing effect by either shining through it from behind, or by illuminating the structure’s face. Follow paved and dirt paths throughout the shrine to come across various cultural and religious icons. • The approach is accompanied by a clear stream, and on the way, while looking at the waterfall and the giant rock strange rock, and aiming at the main hall while searching for the image of the Seven Lucky Gods placed in every place. It's not such a long distance, but if you have a disability, it's a little hard. In winter, the slope is freezing and dangerous. I thought. The main shrine, built on a rock with a mountain as your back, has a solemn atmosphere. If you like shrines and temples, you will not be able to stand it. Close to the main shrine, draw a 200 yen fortune-making lottery for the opening of the god water. When you pull, nothing is written, but if you soak in the god water on the way to the approach, fortune (character) floats. To tell the truth, on the way to the main shrine, i saw the appearance that people after the visit were soaked in the god water, and i also asked for a fortune lottery where, and i was swept away near the god water. w Not near the god water. Omikuji is something to draw after the visit. So it was next to a shop near the main shrine.

  • Probably one of my absolute favourite Shinto Shrines to visit though it is quite far from Takasaki Station and you don't want to miss the bus ride back. When you go, take special notice of all the detailed wooden carvings.
  • Beautiful walk through nature with shrines tucked into the mountains. I’ve never seen anything like it before, wonderful experience.
