  • Of dinosaur loving children and to visit often so, I buy a pass. Unlike the TNM exhibitions often there is volume itself is just not the same exhibits, the event presents everything all good so no problem is. And year patterns are reasonably priced bus pays for itself after the path is 1000 yen and twice it was hiked 1,500 yen from 1/2018. A little less comfortable.

  • Superb exhibit covering the ancient civilizations of the Andes dating back to the Cavel ruins of 15,000 years ago, covering the Kotosh ruins, Chavin religion and culture through the Chimu Kingdom and ...  more »
  • I took the kids recently addicted to dinosaurs. Very pleased. So tired, I didn't see the whole thing. The corner that sold the dinosaur toy were quite excellent! You'd better carefully if you want to see taken slack time. Out of Ueno Station, very convenient.

  • This Museum is a great place to explore the origins of civilization in Japan, marvel at the technical achievements of the last few centuries or to hang out with some cool dinosaur skeletons. Visually, the exhibits are stunning and the interactive screens are designed to please even the most ardent self-learner. My kids loved looking at everything, touching many of the interactive exhibits and standing in front of the yesterday camera to see how they look in infrared. Next time we will plan ahead so our youngest can enjoy the relatively new play areas. You need to get tickets to enter and they were sold out by the time we got there. I highly recommend a visit to this Museum!
  • Great place to spend your entire day!!! The first area you get to, the natural history of Japan, is very old and honestly pretty boring. If you go BEYOND that, though, there's a cool 360° theater with great presentations and the natural history of the world section, which is new and REALLY cool. There was so much there that we couldn't get through it all in a day! I would suggest just skipping the natural history of Japan and going straight to the world portion.
  • Museum has very comprehensive exhibits. Its collection are interesting, and the admission (¥620) is well justified. Much of the museum's information are not really accessible to people who do not read Japanese, which takes a lot of enjoyment out for those who wanna learn about the artifacts! Translated signage (directions) are adequate but those about the exhibits themselves are few and far between. The museum does have audio machines people can rent (¥310) that i had not used but I think would enhance the experience a lot as I think has English audio!
  • Very well run museum with special exhibition as well as regular exhibition venues and a Japan Hall showing Japanese scientists. A good restaurant inside allows lunch and replenishment or coffee for long full day visitors. Exhibits can attract both young people and older adults.
  • Well run and professionally built, its enjoyable even with pretty limited English instruction. Some of the buildings are dated and so are the displays, but overall if you have any interest in natural history or science its worth your time.
