Suma Aqualife Park Kobe, Suma

4.1
#3 of 9 in Zoos & Aquariums in Hyogo Prefecture
Discover what lies beneath during a trip to Suma Aqualife Park Kobe, an education and observation facility. Opened in 1957, the striking pyramid-shaped building houses a number of separate aquatic environments, allowing you to get up close and personal to different ecosystems. Head to the Amazon-themed area to examine the plant life and creatures you'd find on a trip there, and check out the main water tank to view a range of sharks and rays swimming about. Catch the dolphin performance and the live piranha feeding sessions for two contrasting images of the natural world. • Given its relatively small size, this is a very nice aquarium. There’s an entertaining dolphin show for the kids, a good selection of fish and marine creatures, and generally a well thought-out displa...  more »
  • There are a lot of creatures that are bred. There were a lot of big fish and mammals, and it was worth seeing. There are creatures that i don't see much in other aquariums, and i enjoy reading the text of the explanation. There is a sea otter that the facilities to be bred are decreasing, too. It was still hot, so it was pretty crowded even on weekdays. From the opening of the park until about noon, there are many elementary school excursions and families, and the number of couples increases from about 14 o'clock. It is easy to access and the entrance fee is cheap. There are many stairs in the park, but there are slopes and elevators, so i think strollers and wheelchairs are safe.

  • This aquarium should have closed about 15 years ago. You'll find some sad looking tanks and everything old and unkept. This place will close permanently soon so if you're in the mood to see what an aquarium looked like in 1957 then it'll be your only chance.
  • Nice Aquarium, bigger than I expected, old but well kept, family friendly. 1 star review as I don't believe in keeping dolphins in captivity and forcing them to do tricks for our amusement. Skipped this 'show' hopefully Suma Aqualife Park will end this backwards practice sooner rather than later.
