Cycle Kyoto Reviews
Thierry was amazing on our tour, showing us the small streets of Kyoto as well as bringing us to the famous shrines and temples. He was always able to give us a bit of history at each time which made ... more »
My partner and I did the South Kyoto Tour with Sean and Kevin. It was exactly what we were looking for. Three or so hours of medium paced cycling, visiting temples, back streets and ancient areas. We ... more »
I love guided tours. Did them all over the world. This was my first bad experience with one. Kyoto being an amazing city, has so much to offer. Sadly we did not get that experience on our tour. The guide talked more about his private life then about Kyoto. He did gave a lot of weird and fun facts (but I googled 5 afterwards, all of them where incorrect) so I stopped checking. The lunch (lunch box) was the worst and cheapest item I ate in my life (and we ate it in a park that looked worst then 90% the parks in Aleppo). I dare you to find a worst place and thing to eat in Kyoto. Maybe our guide just had a bad day. I read a lot of good reviews. But honestly even if it was free it would have been a waste of time. Also no helmets where given (they had them at in there center) so again maybe it was just our guide ...
Lead by our fearless French bohemian professor Thierry, we toured through the winding back streets of this beautiful city. Our guide, who also happened to be a French professor, was not only full of helpful information about the city past and present, but also taught the group how to count from 1-99 by the time the tour was over. Focusing not just on the tourist areas, but also brining us to quiet gardens near and dear to his heart that you won’t find in the guidebooks. I will remember this day fondly. 10/10 highly recommended.
