Yoyogi Park, Shibuya

4.2
#3 of 424 in Parks in Tokyo
Enjoy strolling and relaxing surrounded by trees at Yoyogi Park, one of the capital's largest green spaces. A big patch of vegetation surrounded by urban sprawl, the park boasts many fountains, ponds, and well-manicured lawns. You'll find that the park features fewer cherry trees than you might expect, instead including a huge swathe of gingko trees. Afterwards, you can kick back on a park bench or on the grass and amuse yourself with the many street performers and musicians that frequent the area. • It is a short distance from Harajuku Station. It is quite a walk from Shibuya Station. There are many events held every week in a very large park.

  • I admire the maintenance and cleanliness of this busy park (it's an understatement). It's really remarkable and it makes the walk very enjoyable in this park which, while not the most incredible I've seen so far, is very pretty and rich in several points of interest. Vast, with wide paths sheltered by the shade of trees and ponds that must be precious in summer (it was February during our stay), there are also several services and curiosities such as a gone lined with beautifully decorated sake barrels and especially photographed (I sincerely hesitate to add my own shot on Tripadvisor). There is also a sanctuary, a rather interesting gift shop (looking carefully so as not to bring back an item "made in china", as was the case for dice to sew in Ireland but it is another subject ...) and, among things, a stand of sellers of "Mitaras hi dango", a kind of skewers of sticky and appetizing rice balls. We enjoyed the tasting. A place to see, if possible with bright weather.

  • Beautiful park that is totally dog friendly. Many people came to have picnics with their family and walking their dogs. Wasn't too packed on a Sunday morning but it was lovely to stroll around the park looking at trees and enjoying the surroundings. We came during winter season so there's not many flowers to admire but nevertheless it was a gorgeous experience
  • One of the more interesting spots in Tokyo to people watch. It was pretty empty when we went recently but it was pretty cool that day. Nice park to hang out in even if there aren't a ton of people there.
