Shinyakushiji Temple, Nara

4.0
Visit the site of one of Japan's oldest wooden buildings, Shinyakushiji Temple, founded in 747 AD by Empress Komyo for her ill husband, Emperor Shomu. You'll find yourself in a complex featuring two gates and a hall, which dates back to the 12th or 13th century, as well as Hon-dor, an 8th-century building, which now serves as the main hall of the area. The small structure has white washed walls and a rather slanted roof. Go inside to find a 191.5 cm (75 in) statue of Yakushi Nyori almost filling up the entire room, with his 'twelve heavenly generals' surrounding him. In the past, the generals have featured on the 500 yen stamp. Add Shinyakushiji Temple and other attractions to your Nara trip itinerary using our Nara trip itinerary builder site .

  • I didn't go until I was 70 because of the new one, but i was surprised when I raised my heavy waist and asked for a picture of my daughter, the twelve gods. It is enough to meet the powerful appearance of the 12-god general, and it is thanks to reflection and the daughter why it might not visit up to now. I'll go again.

  • From the Spring Day Society here is a road through the original forest of the Spring Festival Mountains (which also happens to be one of the cultural heritage of the ancient capital Nara), walking through some residential areas and arriving at the New Pharmacist Temple. The Temple of the New Pharmacist was established in 747 A.D. by the Queen of Light to pray for the death of Emperor Sanwu. Tickets are 600 yen for adults. The new pharmacist temple is very small, the point of view is that the pharmacistin in this hall such as sitting portrait and twelve gods will stand portrait, placement and lighting effect is very beautiful. These twelve gods will also be the patron saint of every zodiac year, interested and time students can consider to look at.
