  • Wonderful old temple at Gangoji on the Yamanobe no Michi trail. They serve somen noodles here. And there are two poetry monuments, both of which are profiled in "Precious Stones," a delightful book.....  more »

  • Very well kept residence within the old city. The owner is very helpful and explained to us the functionality of their traditional door and window mechanisms. The is house is a perfect example of how people in Nara used to live when it used to be the capital. There are a handful of houses that also open their doors to visitors, but this residence is the best.
  • An awesome museum to see the traditional Japanese house and its Funktions
