Chichu Art Museum, Naoshima-cho

A work of art its own right, Chichu Art Museum is built into the subtropical landscape of the southern side of Naoshima Island. Most of the gallery remains invisible from the outside, while a scattering of minimalist concrete structures peaking over the foliage provides only a hint of what lurks inside. Step in to discover a permanent exhibit of the famed water lilies by Claude Monet, as well as works by Walter De Maria and James Turrell. Take a break at the onsite cafe, which offers picturesque views of the Inland Sea. Start your trip to Naoshima-cho by creating a personalized itinerary on Inspirock.

  • It's an online ticket. When I was trying to make a reservation the day before, it was already only available in the evening. You need to make an early reservation. There is a direct bus from the port, but there is no one-way bus, so it's like going back to Tsusajiso by free shuttle bus or town bus counterclockwise. I thought it was 2100 yen high, but it was pretty good. A museum using natural light in the basement. Architectural art is interesting. There are two places when Entering with slippers. There is a locker. It's good to go through Monet's real garden. Maria's name was good. It is fun to see the sky reflected in the sphere, but somehow the atmosphere of the church. Because the inside of the building was dark in the whole to me of the bird eye, I was pounding because I did not see various things. There is also a replacement system. I'm using a coffee shop, but it's a little expensive. The view from the window is great.

  • Wonderful place. The architecture is worth it alone. I think I enjoyed the space more so than some of the art. Highly recommended
  • Amazing museum, definitely a must visit when on Naoshima. Make sure to stop at their cafe, since they offer some nice beverages and dishes. Their terrace is particularly nice to enjoy the sunset.
