Step back into the Edo Period at Tokugawa Art Museum, dedicated to telling the story of the Tokugawa shoguns who ruled Japan for 250 years. Located on the site where one of the family's feudal residences stood, the museum collects a number of artifacts related to the family, with antiques from around the world showcasing their economic dominance and tastes, as well as objects related to everyday life during the period. Admire the artistry of the ceramics and calligraphy, the pristine, carefully designed swords, and the elegance of the furniture the clan surrounded themselves with. • The armor and swords in the first exhibition room are worth seeing. It is not the Sengoku period, but the Edo period and the details are decorated with jewelry, and i feel the dignity of the shogunfamily even though it is a branch house.

  • I visited nagoya on business. I think that access is a bad place. I visited to see the genji monogatari picture scroll, but it was an exhibition of only a small part of the reproduction. If you want to see the actual thing, do a survey and it will not be seen during the exhibition period (tears)

  • The Art museum which has permanent exhibits of the tools of the Owari Tokugawa feudal lords, such as Japanese swords and armour, tea ceremony utensils, and Noh costumes. Be sure not to miss the limited-time displays of the Tale of Genji picture scrolls (designated a National Treasure), and the China dolls and Doll Festival. Entry to the museum is 1.400 Yen. To get there take the sightseeing tour bus or the closest metro station is Morishita Station. (Meitetsu-Seto Line)
  • Was given an impromptu personal 2 hour tour of the whole building. Amazing experience would recommend if you want to learn about how the Samurai and the Royal family lived. Goes into great depth on things like how they drank tea and what kinds of tea and things like incense and how it contributed to the tale of genji. Super cool.
