Iya Kazura Bridge, Miyoshi

#1 of 50 in Things to do in Miyoshi
Bridge · Scenic Walking Area
Spanning a lush river valley, Iya Kazura Bridge stands as one of the few remaining examples of an architectural design that incorporated bundles of thick vines as the main building material. Dating back to the 12th century, this bridge was once one of 13 different crossing points in the valley. Keep in mind that although the bridge appears precarious, it is backed up by iron cables and anchored to trees on each end. • Absolutely breathtaking area. The bridge was scary to cross but it's very safe. If you are afraid of heights just grab the wooden railing.
  • Beautiful river and bridge - fun to take a picture for sure. Not for very small child.
