Kurima Bridge, Miyakojima

#8 of 165 in Things to do in Miyakojima
Bridge · Tourist Spot
See the scenic coastlines of the two islands as you drive across Kurima Bridge, the long bridge connecting the islands of Miyako and Kurima. Completed in 1995, the impressively engineered bridge spans a total length of 1,690 m (5,544 ft), with the ocean underneath changing color along the route depending on the depth of the water and the angle of the light hitting it. To get a good photo, consider taking a walk along the whole bridge, or perhaps just a section. You can also pull up at the car parks either side of the bridge. • Compare to the other bridges you can find in Miyako, Kurima look less appealing. There is a good place place to capture the whole bridge, find the tower on Kurima island.  more »
