  • This is a private museum where a former company employee from Murata Manufacturing's founder's family buys back the masterpieces of the fine craft field from New York and London to Japan and exhibits the collection. It is located on a street surrounded by sweet and souvenir shops, about a 5-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. It is small in the building that the texture of soft wooden is made. The 1st floor is a permanent exhibition room, a museum shop, and the 2F exhibition room. The permanent exhibition was "Masterpieces of the End of the Edo Period and Meiji Period : Metalwork, Seven Treasures, Makie, Satsuma Ware, sculptures", and the masterpieces that were colorful lying with elaborate transcendent techniques were exhibited with the introduction of the technique. The exhibition was held in the Meiji Era, and familiar metal work products produced by sword metalworkers who lost their demand after the Meiji Restoration were able to make full use of the advanced engraving techniques cultivated in the production of sword fittings were on display. In addition to the "Shioshio Tidal Diagram Teapot" that Goto ichito made at the age of 82, there were also some exhibits of the Meiji era joint sing-a-long, which i was very interested in because i had not seen them anywhere else. Please note that it is closed on Tuesdays in addition to Mondays.

  • It was very interesting to see. It is a museum that I wanted to visit once because it is a museum which has a lot of collections of transcendent techniques. Please look at the time required for one hour. The first floor is usually a special exhibition. Japanese craftsmanship, makie, shichiho yaki, etc. are lined up. This is 800 yen cheaper. The foreigner also looked at it. There aren't many visitors, but it's an environment where you can enjoy it slowly. It was the article which I wanted to have about one article.

  • This museum has beautiful examples of netsuke and makei craftsmanship from the 19th century and earlier. Its worth renting the magnifying scope at the entry to see the details on the miniatures.
  • A quiet place!
