  • The temple of Mt. Yazanji, known as the ruins of the house of the Purple Shikibu, is in full bloom. It is also known as a hideaway spot for autumn leaves, and it is quiet and calm. The Setsubun Festival in February is also a must see.

  • I passed the Riki Shrine from kyoto imperial palace. It is said that the temple is located on the site of the Purple Shikibe mansion, and he wrote the tale of Genji and the purple shikibu diary here. There is a indication that it is a ground related to the purple ceremony part here in the precincts.

  • Rozanji Temple is closely associoated with an author of Lady Murasaki and The Tale of Genji who served at Imperial Palace and wrote the first poem in the history of Japanese literature. It was her farther Fujiwara Kanesuke who was a court official built his mansion in this place. It is said this is the very place where Murasaki Shikibu wrote her great works as it is depicted on some stone monument standing in this temple. The temple was originally established in 938 on the hill side of Mt. Funaoka in Nishijin area and moved to the current location to escape the destruction by the great warlord Oda Nobunaga in the late 16th century. Rozanji was established by imperial command of Emperor Kokaku to bury the souls of imperial family. ( Trans-wor+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )
